Geschiedenis van een familie Hoogveld. 400 jaar agrariers in Liemers en Over-Betuwe, Herveld 1998; vgl. Gelders Erfgoed (2000), nr 3, p 27].
De oudst tot nu toe bekende gegevens van de stamvader, rond 1600, vinden we in de kerkboeken van Groessen. En bij Groessen in het dorp 't Loo komen we de veldnaam Hoogeveld tegen." De naamvorm met -dt is in Westervoort ontstaan bij Peter Hoogveld.Hij huwde te Elst in 1847; een jaar later werd zijn naam in Westervoort in de geboorteakte van zijn zoon Johannes als Hoogveldt gespeld [R. Maassen, 'Hoogveld-Hoogveldt', in: Bij de tijd... Kwartaalblad van de Historische Kring Westervoort 11 (1994), nr 3, p 42-44].

Wordt in 1615 kleinburger in Nijmegen (bron: een wereldreis van 2000 huismerken).
In de doop-, trouw- en begraafboeken van Groessen ben ik (Rene Maassen) in dezelfde periode (rond 1650) ook nog Catharina Hoogefelt en Bernardina Hoogefelt tegen gekomen. De naam wordt ook geschreven als Hoogefels, beiden zijn getuigen bij diverseinschrijvingen. Met deze gegevens, en het gebruik van het vernoemen van voornamen; de eerste zoon uit een huwelijk wordt meestal vernoemd naar zijn grootvader(vaderszijde), kunnen we de volgende generatie weergeven.

Uit dit huwelijk:

Deze drie kinderen zullen waarschijnlijk geboren zijn rond 1630. Dit houdt dan in dat Jan zelf geboren is aan het einde van de 16de eeuw. ?

Irmingarde van Tours, dochter van Hugo, De Heilige, Keizerin-gemalin van het Heilige Roomse Rijk, was de dochter van Graaf Hugo van Tours. Zij was voorbestemd om abdis te worden van de abdij van Bolzano. 15 november 821 trad zij echter in Thionville in het huwelijk met keizer Lotharius I en daarna werd ze voogdes van Bolzano. Een van haar kinderen was een dochter, Rotrude. In 849 stichtte zij samen met haar dochter in Erstein (Elzas) een vrouwenklooster. Rotrude werd de eerste abdis van het klooster. Irmgard kreeg vanuit Rome een groot aantal relieken geschonken voor het klooster. Sindsdien waren alle rijksvorstinnen ook abdis van dit klooster. Irmgard is begraven in Erstein. Haar feestdag is op 20 maart.
