Eerste oorkonde van een naam met Persijn. Op die dag was Floris de III in de abdij van Egmond met groot gevolg, en Dirk Persijn werd vermeld als borg en getuige van de Graaf van Holland (Floris de III). Het onrecht, der abdij door 's graven vader aangedaan, werd weer goed gemaakt; de kerk te Vlaardingen met haar bezittingen en tienden (belastingen) werd haar teruggegeven. Onder de getuigen is ook Theodoricus Persijn, die onmiddelijk na 's graven broeder Robertus tekent. De plaats door DirckPersijn ingenomen getuigt van hoge rang. Zijn broer was vermoedelijk Nicolaas Persijn, vader van Jan van Putten.

Westfriesland, van waaruit Waterland waarschijnlijk is ontgonnen, stond evenwel een periode, tot eind 9e eeuw, onder Deense heerschappij [J.M.
