Notes

Teisterbant was een gouw of graafschap van Vlaardingen tot Tiel, begrensd door de rivieren Lek, Maas, Waal en Hollandse IJssel. De huidige Neder-Betuwe maakte er deel van uit, maar ook plaatsen als Vianen, Buren, Culemborg, Batenburg, en Malsen (wellicht het huidige Geldermalsen). Tiel was de belangrijkste stad van het gebied. De historische landen van Arkel, Heusden en Altena maakten er ook deel van uit.

Het was reeds een bekend gebied in 8e eeuw. Van 843 (Verdrag van Verdun) tot het overlijden van Lotharius II in 869 hoorde Teisterbant onder het koninkrijk Lotharingen. Vervolgens kwam Teisterbant in 870 (Verdrag van Meerssen) aan Lotharius' oom Lodewijk de Duitser en werd het deel van Oost-Francie.

Het gebied kwam in handen van het Huis van Kleef, nadat een van hen, graaf Diederik van Kleef, met de erfdochter van Teisterbant, gravin Ida, was getrouwd.

Getuigde in 1215 met zijn broer Dirk bij een beslissing van graaf Willem I en werd in 1226 door deze broer met het erfleen Duivenvoorde beleend. Hun nakomelingen noemden zich, naar het nog bestaande, onder Voorschoten gelegen landgoed van Duivenvoorde. Wapen van Philips: in goud 3 zwarte wassenaars.
Aan de Zuid-Westelijke grens van Voorschoten is, tussen de Veurseweg en de spoorweg Den Haag Leiden, het landgoed van het eeuwenoude kasteel Duivenvoorde gelegen. Het ontstaan van Duivenvoorde hangt waarschijnlijk samen met een ondiepe of doorwaadbare plaats in het dicht achter het kateel gelegen watertje, dat van de Delfland-Rijnlandse landscheiding loopt naar de Rijn. Van het middeleeuwse gebouw, in 1393 tijdens de Hoekse en Kabaljauwse twisten verwoest, doch daarna direct weer herbouwd, zijn slechts enkele muurresten bewaard. Overleden voor 1258.

Andere genealogen hebben Maartje Verhagen abusievelijk aangehaakt als echtgenote van Dirk Dirksz (*1754), een zoon van deze Dirk en zijn eerste vrouw Anna Dekker.
