Op 31-03-1917 woont Hindrik met Hillechien op B-52 en de kinderen Evert,Berend en Johanna Henderika. Op dit adres woont zijn schoonmoeder Janna Woldring, weduwe van Berend Oosterveld, bij hen in. Janna Woldring kreeg een invaliditeitsrente.Hindrik Huizing startte zijn loopbaan als boerenknecht en werd voorman bij de bekende boerenfamilie Boon in Hoogezand. Woonde als arbeider een tijdlang midden in het land in een van de twee kleine arbeidershuisjes (gem. Slochteren ) om later als voorman voor aan de Hoofdstraat naast de boerderij te gaan wonen.Werd in 1929 zelfstandig landbouwer in Kropswolde. Zijn zoon Berend nam later het bedrijf over.Wanneer precies is niet bekend, maar waarschijnlijk in 1943 toen Hindrik 65 jaar was geworden.Hillie, zijn kleindochter, is nl. geboren toen Berend al op de boerderij woonde en dat was 1944. Kleinzoon Henk van Berend is geboren toen Berend nog tegenover de boerderij woonde.Deze gegevens verkregen via Hillie Hulsebosch- Huizing van DinaSchrage-Mellens, wiens moeder een zuster was van Antje Mellens.
